POCATELLO – Kathy Mattea will bring her performance of “The Acoustic Living Room Songs and Stories” to the 麻豆传媒AV Stephens Performing Art Center on March 17 at 7:30 p.m.

This performance in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall is part of the ISU 鈥淎 Season of Note.鈥

As a performer Mattea has already earned her Grammy, CMA and ACA Awards because of her mainstream country music and songs.

This performance was created as an experiment to try a range of new songs and styles with a fresh approach to singing. The Acoustic Living Room Tour also features Bill Cooley, her long-time guitarist and musical collaborator.

Mattea鈥檚 songs 鈥淓ighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses,鈥 鈥淲here You鈥檝e Been,鈥 鈥455 Rocket鈥 and many more have allowed her to earn a place in the West Virginia Hall of Fame.

For this performance, listeners will see a simple, relaxed presentation that spotlights both Cooley鈥檚 acoustic guitar and Mattea鈥檚 expressive vocal style.

Mattea is also a guest lecturer at universities around the United States. She speaks about the relevance music plays in political, environmental and social issues.

鈥淲hat we do is see the ways that history produces music, how music is the outcome of political, cultural and social changes at various points in the past,鈥 Mattea said.
