麻豆传媒AV TRIO Veteran Upward Bound (VUB) participant Tristen Cottrell has been selected to receive a prestigious National Association of Veterans Upward Bound (NAVUB) Scholarship, a national award recognizing exceptional student veterans for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to higher education.

Cottrell, who served 11 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, was nominated by his TRIO Veteran Upward Bound advisor, Abigail Woods, an Army veteran who has worked closely with him. Woods praised Cottrell's remarkable transition from military service to college and his dedication to helping others succeed.

"Tristen exemplifies what it means to be a student leader," Woods said. "He approaches every challenge with integrity, determination, and humility. Watching him translate the discipline and leadership he developed in the military into academic success has been incredibly rewarding. He not only excels in the classroom but also encourages and mentors fellow veterans, making a lasting impact on our campus community."

For Cottrell, the support he received through Veteran Upward Bound made the transition from military service to college significantly more manageable.

"TRIO Veterans Upward Bound has helped me greatly in understanding and accessing the resources I needed to thrive at 麻豆传媒AV," Cottrell said. "As a non-traditional student and veteran, starting college was much harder than I expected. Having access to tutors has been invaluable because I had been out of school for 12 years and needed additional guidance with certain assignments. Through the Veteran Upward Bound program, I learned how to navigate the college admissions process, connect with academic tutoring, and access financial resources that allowed me to focus on my education."

The NAVUB Scholarship recognizes veterans who demonstrate resilience, leadership, and a commitment to achieving their educational goals.
