This year's Fall Fossil Fest is going to be a MEGA good time!
We're unveiling our new Megatylopus camel skeleton mount and we want you to be part of the celebrations. See Elmer in his glory, then spend time talking to experts from the Idaho Museum of Natural History, Â鶹´«Ã½AV, and beyond at this year's Fall Fossil Fest: Camels and Other Mammals! Friday evening's keynote speaker this year is Amy Atwater, . Amy studies mammals from eastern Oregon and elsewhere in the West, and she will be bringing us the latest on her research into some of our very earliest ancestors from the time after the dinosaurs went extinct. Saturday, November 7th tables will include scientists and experts from the and the from Utah, Dinosaur Ridge in Colorado, the College of Eastern Idaho, Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument, the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, and staff, students, and researchers from right here at ISU and the IMNH.
In celebration of Elmer we are hosting and two of their camels! Get up close to these amazing gentle giants for hugs and photos while learning about their unique adaptations to the desert and remarkable history. Experience each camels unique personality and get ready to fall in love.

During the event we will have Cocoa and Critters Chat, four short informational talks from partners. Get a taste of the current scientific research happening in Idaho. Meet four fascinating scientists in an informal, interactive setting. Each scientist will discuss their research for 30-40 minutes, then lead a lively group Q&A discussion.

Museum Members receive a 20% discount on admission, all other discounts do not apply.
Your event or program registration is transferable
If you are unable to attend a workshop or program, you may transfer your registration to another person or to a different date for the same workshop or program. Transfers may take place up to one week prior to the program date. Please email your request to us. Include the order number and name of the person originally registered for the program and the name and contact information of the person taking your place.
If you must cancel:
- If you request a refund 15 or more days prior to your workshop, you will receive a full refund
- If you request a refund 8—14 days prior to your workshop, you will receive a 50% refund
- If you request a refund 7 or fewer days prior to your workshop, no refund will be issued
- If a camper or anyone in their immediate family is feeling ill, please stay home! Parents or guardians can email imnh@isu.edu or call 208-282-3168, and we will work to place you in another day of camp or workshop when you are feeling better.
